It’s 2025, and I’m surprised people still want to signal with an… Erewhon smoothie dupe. I think it says more about the people buying it then the stores putting them out at this point 😂
On the "invite more strangers to your wedding" argument...I'm surprised they haven't talked to people who had the traditional Indian wedding (aka 500+ people, where a good chunk of those are people the bride and groom barely know anything, if truly anything, about)...
Imagine if designers leaned into non fashion book spaces but made them aesthetically pleasing. Like I might buy a book on plumbing and hardware if Dries or JW Anderson publish it.
Confirmed Dayjob did Man Cereal branding — I’ve seen it and sampled the product. Clean ingredients, creatine, protein, actually tastes good somehow(?), founded by a power team — going to be big and manly.
Without revealing too much, I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy of each flavor and lack of artificial taste or too much protein aftertaste. Plus the texture was light airy crunchy. Haven’t had the chance to try it with milk yet though — just sampled a few dry at a meeting.
Seems short sighted to me to leave Substack at scale just for better economics. Are these writers sure their revenue growth that Substack enabled won’t suffer? Like, don’t you remember how you got to this point? There has to be a better way…
A skeptic would say they’re timing the peak of the news cycle but without knowing anything about the valuation, I’m bullish on the company given the ongoing collapse of legacy media.
it's always a delicate dance to announce your own bday and i'm not surprised you handled it with charm and elegance. Do i hope my invitation got lost in the mail, i do.
happy bday queen - July bdays fuck and July 1 will break the headboard!
Smoothies: I once heard a take that totally changed my mind on this, essentially contrasting paying $20 for a cocktail of good-for-you ingredients (collagen, spirulina, protein, etc) vs $20 for a cocktail of alcohol (essentially poison lol). I’m not anti-alcohol by any means, but the comparison makes spending $20 on a smoothie seem much more reasonable….
i have to say, the name Drugstore was an awful choice for SEO (i got to page 3 on google before giving up). unless it's supposed to be an iykyk kinda thing
Teetering on the edge of Beehiv myself. They’re incentivizing heavy.
Can you say more…
Any risk of losing potential new subs from substack ecosystem?

One of my favorite party tricks is making people guess how many attendees were at my cousins wedding (in India). Nobody gets close: 4K
Excuse me while I pick up my jaw off the floor.
Holy sh*t.
you cannot convince me those smoothie images are not AI generated
Dior booktok is crazy

I think about this 100% of the time
Someone please take this and run with it
WILD... but I kind of like it.

How did it taste

What do you think about their fundraise

There is nothing manly about eating cereal.
I didn't realize cereal was something people still ate tbh
Cereal is thriving at my house, can’t keep it in stock
say more. why not
Bc of like “wellness”. I also don’t find it satiating at all. I could eat a whole box of cornflakes w cold milk

Oh this is good
Basically, I’m very good at justifying spending a lot of money on everything ☠️ RIP my bank account
All this Hamptons talk made me put Deathtrap (1982) on while I work
Should I pull back
No I love reading about rich ppl , it never tires darling.
Haha my first thought was this smoothie is a $20 blood sugar spike waiting to happen....!
Literally
Was going to ask you for more info on Man Cereal after seeing a LI post about it yesterday. Of course you were already on it 💁♀️
Of COURSE
I do still have many questions but. I’ll be patient
No one is doing it like Dayjob 😤

I don’t know if they even have a website, I saw their Instagram https://www.instagram.com/drugstore?igsh=OTVoeHM1ZHJ2dWNm
Oh drugstore.cafe lol
just looked at day job's portfolio, and "don't become the next red antler" was def top of mind for them.
Good principle for all of us
