Good morning, everyone.
Last night, I went to Somssi a few hours after the Times review for the new Greenwich Village restaurant dropped (to be clear, the res had been in my calendar for days). My friends Lily, Lizzie, and I devoured their Potato, Potato, Potato (potato wrapped in potato and served on more potato), and for dessert we had fig-leaf custard with early autumn grape granita. If we can’t have figs this year, at least we can have fig leaves.

This interview is part of a Feed Me feature called Guest Lecture. In this series, I introduce you all to an expert who I’m curious about, and give paid readers an opportunity to ask them anything they want. Past guests have included Alison Roman, Andrew Ross Sorkin, and Kareem Rahma.
This week Lauren Sherman, Puck’s fashion correspondent and author of Line Sheet newsletter, answers your questions about her recent Vanity Fair profile, the most underrated creative director, moving to Paris after years in LA and New York, and the biggest open secret about the fashion world.
“Fuck, marry, kill: New York, Paris, LA.” - Emily
Kill New York. That’s easy. I’m never moving back. Bad weather. Too expensive (no matter how rich you are). Rats. New York is a drug, or a boyfriend who treats you like shit. Once you’re out, you realize how insane and unhelpful it was to be in it. But also like a bad boyfriend, it’s fun when you’re in your twenties.
As for fuck and marry? I’m undecided. Back to the boyfriend analogy, there are always two guys to choose between, right? Both of these places are marriage worthy. Paris feels great at the moment, but I am not committed either way—maybe we’ll be here for 2 years, maybe we’ll be here forever.
“What are you curious about right now that you have no professional reason to be curious about?” - Tatayana
I can make anything about work.
“With the current popularity of northeast kids going to Southern schools, do you foresee them bringing back much of that influence as they grow up and presumably return?” - Andrew
Here is something far more interesting to think about: There will not be college in 20 years.
