You will not see much coverage about Fashion Week over here at Feed Me, but I would like to know how all of you are thinking about getting dressed this fall.
I was reading this very post-9/11 New York Magazine story from 2002 about fall fashion and felt inspired — I like how interviewees were forecasting feelings and moods, as opposed to literal items:
“You can talk as much as you like about how people are staying at home more, or that they’re spending more time with their families, but the simple fact of the matter is that women still want to look feminine and sexy.” - Michael Kors
“Now is not the time to tell the women of New York that they should go out and buy a sweater and skirt. For me, this is exactly the time that people have to dream and fall in love with clothes, that they can lift your morale.” - Oscar de la Renta
“My feeling is that the clothes have to hit you in the gut, that they have to be so desirable you want to say, ‘To hell with the bills.’” - Linda Wells
Excited to meet some of you in Montauk tonight!
Too lazy to sign into google to fill out the form right now but I’m going east coast equestrian a la 90s Ralph Lauren in honor of moving back to my home town in upstate NY which has the oldest fox hunting club in the country. At least I’ll try.
Emily in case your weekend travels take you past East Hampton at some point and you have a bit of time to spare, feel free to stop by. Andrew is here with his wife Rebecca and two other couples you'd enjoy meeting.
In any case, have a great party.
