Thanks for pointing out how truly wild that CBS video was - so many totally meaningless soundbites, composed haphazardly. Let's berate employees for "not producing a product enough people want"...and then produce content no people want.

Yeah I don't hate the form exactly, it's similar to a sizzle reel for a video streamer, but it's so poorly executed. No curation of the clips

Also: would women trust men’s word that they’re on a birth control pill?

Under what circumstances?

Meanwhile, birth control & safe sex are two separate - and compatible - goals.

Vinolist’s UX is gorgeous. Also, if anyone needs an Alex Mill related laugh this Mickey Drexler reel about pea soup made me giggle mid doomscroll https://www.instagram.com/reel/DT-p9uIjVh9/?igsh=cHZ5cGgyYTR2bjQ2

Love that man

I couldn’t handle when he needed a 14th order

My favorite part is when he just has popcorn instead

Are they reporters? Contributors? Guests? Who knows!

Sam Youkilis is a complete talent. Period. The End.

“Scoops of explanation” what does that even mean?

Gotta carve out a window to listen through that McNally Expense Account but in the meantime, that Vinolistnyc site is magical. Hope to see more restaurants adopt at scale. Or maybe they are aggregating on their own?

jack murphy's avatar

It's just me by myself doing the aggregating!

Brian W's avatar

Amazing. You and @joehovde are the real MVPs with the data that truly matters

He’s the GOAT

Alli Cernoch's avatar

Ooh! Genuinely curious how you're doing the aggregating?

Love Rose! Everyone should read her art education 2026 post

Also the famous Christmas cards post she made inspired me to buy an 18 dollar watercolor set and do my own and they were a hit with the family!! I love rose. Her substack inspires me creatively.

That CBS clip is like a trailer for a new true crime documentary

Central Park Views… Verdura’s showroom, several Lauder offices, sauna and rooftop at NYAC, I do love the one at Bergdorf 🌳🌳🌳

Marc Rubinstein's avatar

Best view of the park I ever saw was from old KKR offices at West 57th Street

My guess is CBS hired an ad agency to handle their social and with limited budget and zero access to contributors. Goes to show the "posted is better than perfect" ethos doesn't always apply

Emily Sundberg's avatar

No chance that is agency work.

Desiree Adib's avatar

No I don’t think so, not an outside agency. This was likely done by their in-house promo dept which every news network has.

Can confirm Sundays are better than Fridays on socials

This is such a, like, concerned meddling mom/tech and data industry nerd question, but - did the Odeon’s heating renovation have anything to do with improved circulation for another airborne-transmitted pandemic? Or did they just have a busted boiler etc? 😅🤓 (or?)

Swear it’s not a totally unhinged question; during Covid we went to Sketch as our only “nice” meal out bc the oligarch type who owns it could splurge on retrofitted HVAC. Only the rich can breathe 🫠

Emily Sundberg's avatar

I have no idea, I think they always have good circulation bc the ceilings are so high and they always have those low speed fans going.

Amy K's avatar

no it's true! Davos has the good HVAC and UV lights: https://slate.com/technology/2023/01/davos-covid-precaution-uv-lights-air-filters.html

In my experience what makes the air quality at a restaurant great is an open kitchen (because of all the vents) so I stick with those!

The Met rooftop has excellent CP views. It's a great date spot. (Sadly closed for construction though 2030.)

See ya up there in 2030

So CBS News is an opinion network now? I hate to pile on Bari as the media loves to see a woman in media fail, but this is a very telling, embarrassingly edited video. “What matters for America and for YOU” is just another way of saying we’re going to keep you locked in your filter bubble of punditry and polarization. And a dog whistle for, “you can’t trust the news”.

So well said. Walter Cronkite's competition was fighting all the powers to report the truth with moral clarity. It's called a news organization. At least for the moment. She is desperate to turn it into infotainment. That is perhaps her brief from the Ellison overlord but it smacks of everything but news integrity.
