Hope you all had a nice, sunny weekend. I spent Saturday morning on a self-directed food and culture tour of Boston’s Beacon Hill and North End neighborhoods. First I browsed twelve floors of bookshelves and art at the Boston Athenaeum (it was a rare “open to public” day at this legendary private library). Then I waited in line for fire extinguisher-sized sandwiches at Monica’s Salumeria, and bocce ball-sized arancini at Bova’s Bakery.

From the Feed Me Tip Line: “Tip: Apparently The Palm chain of restaurants changed their bread nationwide from pretzel rolls to focaccia. But the East Hampton clientele flipped out and so they changed it back at this one location.” I called the Midtown location around 7 p.m. last night and after speaking to two people on the other side of the phone, I learned that there they serve a bread basket that includes both focaccia and “pretzel sticks.” I’ll call the East Hampton location today and continue this investigation for all of you.
East Village bookseller Bonnie Slotnick, 72, was arrested over the weekend after an altercation outside of her cookbook store with the “line-management team” for the Harry Styles merchandise pop-up on East Second Street. One of my favorite local blogs, EV Grieve, published an excellent interview with her about the incident: “I feel like what this story can turn into, or maybe is ... a crabby old lady getting really mad at young people.
