Good morning. I had a lot of negronis last night and I’m flying back to New York tonight on a red eye so I’m going to keep the news kind of quick:
Henry Davis, former Glossier president and COO, was just named CEO of wellness and food delivery company Sakara. Davis has already made key hires including Kathryn Ordower (also formerly Glossier), who will serve as the company’s chief legal and administrative officer, and Brian Buchanan (formerly Burt’s Bees and Leesa), the company’s new chief technology officer.
This is quite the post from Jolie’s CEO. I’m generally ok with companies taking on their competitors directly and addressing weakness, and fast followers, but all coming from a CEO… not sure. It’s probably giving more air time to their new competitors.
More Marni beauty and fragrance coming this year, because they just signed a deal with Coty! The agreement, which will run beyond 2040, will see Coty develop, produce and distribute beauty products on behalf of Marni. The first items under the new licensing agreement are expected in 2026. My mom used to wear a discontinued Marni fragrance and it was incredible.
Cannabis brands saw a boom in sales during dry January. Going to be real with you guys… sometimes when I drink those I think the THC levels are so off and they can ruin my evening.
Novo Nordisk’s parent strikes a deal to ramp up production of its weight-loss drugs.
For a select group of moms in high-powered jobs, shrooms have become the answer to a packed social and professional calendar with no time for hangovers. Okay could’ve used that last night.
Meanwhile, the boys are going for Zyn. Nicotine is the latest performance-enhancing drug for grueling jobs in tech and finance. Here’s what the group chat is saying:
Adam Neumann is trying to buy back WeWork. Neumann’s new real estate company Flow Global is pushing WeWork to consider its takeover approach, according to a letter his lawyers sent to WeWork’s advisers yesterday. Flow which has already raised $350 million from the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, disclosed in the letter that Loeb’s Third Point would help finance a transaction.
VALENTINE’S DAY IDEAS 💌
There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing a woman with the ALAIA heart bag, but recently I was in my friend’s car and saw her ALAIA heart wallet which is equally adorable, bright red, and versatile.
I really like Valentine’s Day adventures like going to Brighton Beach and getting dinner at Tatiana, or taking a ferry to Staten Island and getting dinner.
A heart pendant. I like this one from Laura Lombardi, but I’ve heard the girls are polishing up their Elsa Peretti hearts this year, if you want to get a blue box.
High Sport pants. I have them in navy, I tried on a red pair the other day but they were the wrong size (clearly). I live in mine and they make every outfit I put on a little more sophisticated. Someone the other day described them as her Mrs. Robinson pants, referring to the amount of mom-like errands and tasks she wears them for. Me, on the other hand? I wear them several days in a row and they make my butt look good.
“Ranger belt” is a new term to me, but the boys love them. I bought this one from Assembly for a man in my life, and he loves it. But he also loves some other things, including:
These beautiful Indigofera snap western shirts they carry at Standard and Strange. “Super distinctive sawtooth pocket flap.”
“If he already has a great dive / tool watch get him one these overpriced leather or canvas NATO straps from Jean Rousseau. Look at how the keeper loops are the same material as the strap. Less hardware so it really dresses up the NATO - almost no one else does that.”
This croc NATO strap from ABP Concept is also great
“These Wythe moleskin snaps are great. Do yourself a favor, support a NYC brand, go to their store and heft them. I think this shirt would end up getting borrowed by girlfriends a lot.”
And lastly it’s not western but these shoes are great in person. Gorgeous tread.
A custom key tag! The possibilities are endless.
If you live in New York, order dough from Scarr’s and make pizza. I like heart-shaped ones. If you don’t feel like cooking or you’re not close enough yet to like.. be in each other’s kitchens, I’d like to make a strong case for slice shop Valentine’s Day. I’ve done it several times and it always hits. You might even see me at Luigi’s this year.
