influencer / journalist distinction is such a cop-out. suggests just leaving ethical behavior to people who profess to have ethics. we should all be judged based on how ethical we are, not how skillfully we avoid taking on ethical commitments.
Have you been thinking about this distinction more in recent years? While I was at Cannes Lions, it was really interesting to hear which creators dubbed themselves journalists. And then shortly after, how many writers on Substack gave themselves the same title. But I think ethics is more important than the title one gives themself. I think Brenda's ethics are pretty solid! I'm so impressed by how transparent she is around brand trips/what she's gifted/ who pays for what. It's super rare in her industry.
Loved brenda's responses 🖤 as a chronic procrastinator myself I could tell this level of depth and detail was coming from a deeply rooted need for distraction before she even said so ha
"abolish theoretical questions" 😂 I love brenda's mind
Me too, one of one.
