Good morning. I’ll write about Paris and hotels tomorrow, I don’t feel like getting KIDNAPPED today.

Today’s news includes:

  • News about Substack, the company — competitors, the future of the platform, and more

  • Another brand is throwing an influencer event at Palm Heights

  • The New York bar fundraising via… Instagram Story ads (you guys did great in the comment section of Feed Me yesterday by the way)

  • I’ve decided to make a free Google Doc of internship opportunities — email emily@readfeedme.com if you want to list one

NEWS:

  • With one week until The Met Gala… the Conde Nast union’s bargaining team is showing a video announcement to management that includes Guild members discussing the reasons they are “ready to strike.” Would be a real shame if there was nobody logged into Vogue’s Instagram on Monday night.

  • Dominos said that increased advertising on apps like Uber Eats helped boost sales. Quarterly net income jumped 20% from a year earlier, as a five-year strategic plan outlined in December seemed to gain momentum.

  • Fitness studio chain Barry’s Bootcamp is considering a sale. It’s a repeat of a pre-pandemic effort in which a sale may have valued the company at $700 million, Bloomberg News reported in 2019. The company’s valuation expectations are now higher, one of the people said. I’m sorry, that workout is not for me.

  • Women don’t have to send the first message anymore on Bumble. Bumble redesigns its app and adds Opening Moves, to let women ask a question men can answer, a major shift that ends the requirement that women message first.

  • Last year Joe and the Juice was valued at $600mm. This year they launched a collab with Alix Earle and Paris Hilton. Does anyone know anything about the marketing budget of this place? Kind of astounding…
