There is an unparalleled beauty in in-person human interaction-based jobs that we will never be able to replicate elsewhere and I am thankful for that

I saw a Note on here the other day about a girl who went shopping ended up telling the shop girl about how her friend had just passed but would have loved the outfits she was trying on and it made me emotional. I sent it to my friend who owns a shop because despite being someone who has a newsletter based on online shopping, I know there is really something so special about creating a space where people feel comfortable enough to share, connect and be. I am so thankful for those spaces, those people, and I hope we never lose that magic

I saw that Note as well but I can’t take people seriously who post crying selfies (or videos) of themselves

I get a visceral reaction whenever I see an unpaid fashion/media intern posting... You should at least be shelling out minimum wage

I love skipping dinner sometimes and just meeting for a nightcap. I also did a Cigar and whiskey tasting as a birthday activity one year and it was really fun. And every one should be in the Feed Me chat - it’s the most interesting place to be online.

I lived in Kansas City but when I got to L.A I joined the whiskey and cigar club at SeVen Grand DTLA, they have this cool back room you can smoke in.

> I think a lot of people are going to try to start positioning themselves as cultural theorists and intellectuals because they don’t want to be seen anymore just as entertainers. People want to prove that they are smart, and the whole guest lecture at Harvard thing doesn’t cut it anymore.

This is fascinating considering the slow decent into Idiocracy (🎥) that appears to be happening all around us.

Are there other trends / things happening online / IRL that point to this?

And I actually think more specific to Charli is the "process" part of Tatayana's statement which relates more to Rachel Karten's Proof of Reality idea: https://www.milkkarten.net/p/why-ai-will-lead-to-more-proof-of

When I’m meeting up with certain folks for biz lunches or dinners, I always ask for a good gossip table, and the hosts that get it get it. It not be a “good” table, but it works. You can’t be too careful these days 🤣
