The McDonald’s social media manager deserves a Pulitzer.
And a call for college boys who will be in New York City this summer. 💼
Good morning everyone.
This letter is being written and sent from the halfway mark of my flight from Paris back to New York. I took
’s recommendation and got dinner at Le Cheval d'Or last night. The menu was both French and Chinese. Each table setting included a small silver horse, a bit larger than a Monopoly piece, that was used as a chopstick rest. There were many moments during the tasting menu where I fell in love — the delicate lace curtains around the industrial dining room, a bowl of rice as heavenly as the peking duck next to it, the coconut water ice on the final dessert, my life. Best meal in Paris. On Sunday, I spent three hours in my favorite hammam in Paris. The combination of heat and watching how dozens of women silently took care of themselves was all very stimulating. I jotted down lines of notes afterwards when I took my phone out of my locker.
I’m going to the Bay Area next week for the first time. Hesitant to ask for recs or if anyone wants to meet because my schedule is in flux but I’m sure one of you will have a good idea or two.
🐞 There was a bug in the GLP-1 survey I’m working on in partnership with Found that has since been fixed. I read through a few of the hundreds of submissions I got so far, and I’m astounded.
Today’s letter includes: Are reaching peak-monetized-networking-event?, the beautiful mind behind the McDonald’s Twitter account, roadtrips for billionaires are sailing around the world, Wegovy use went up 50% amongst teens in the US in 2024, and as always, more.

Everyone seems to be confused about Gen-Z’s drining habits in the wake of that New York Times story. So Hell Gate reacted appropriately — they made an easy, three-step guide for How to Go to a Bar If You're Gen Z:
Step one: Go to an ATM and take out $40 in cash
Step two: Buy drinks in rounds
Step three: Talk to strangers
Step four: consider taking up smoking
I enjoyed this whole interview with ’s . Especially this part: “We don’t need those $20+ designer strawberries that are available year-round, especially considering all the plastic packaging. Some things are worth waiting for, and I swear, the first strawberry of summer tastes even better when you’ve waited all year for it.”
Sequoia invested $100mm in indie streaming service (and distributor, and publisher, and curator, and community) Mubi. Per FT, Mubi established itself as a serious player in Hollywood last year following founder Efe Cakarel’s big bet on The Substance, which he bought for $12mm and went on to earn $84mm at the box office. Mubi is now valued at $1B.
