Me on the way to a holiday party after my sister taught me how to do a blowout.

Hi everyone. I have a sincere question: how the hell do some of you go to so many parties and still feel like a functioning person? I went to a few parties and dinners this weekend and my energy bank account is at zero. Is there a secret drug, or are you just spending all your money on Ubers or are you not drinking or what? And then some of you also workout and have kids and seemingly cook. I really feel like some people are on party steroids this time of year. And if that is the case, amazing. I just want to know the secret.

Anyway, some news:

  • Graza hired Olipop’s head of digital product. Melanie Edwards spent 3 years at the soda startup before heading to the olive oil startup.

  • The CEO of Beehiiv launched a newsletter called “Big Desk Energy.” It covers trends AND vibes AND more. Kind of cringe.

  • Remember two months ago when I shared that Glossier was hiring more fragrance roles 👀 ? Today, their CEO Kyle Leahy said “We’re only just getting started in fragrance.” Glossier’s perfume, “You,” has continued to be a bestseller, with a bottle selling every 40 seconds. It’s now the top-selling fragrance at Sephora, both in stores and online. Thanks to its popularity, Glossier launched a larger bottle of “You” in October. This, guys, is why I cover fragrance so closely and took a fragrance course this semester. I saw where the money was going, and I followed it. This is what makes the letter so fun for me, these little industry side quests that make us all smarter and more equipped for larger consumer shifts.
