Good morning everyone.

  • Finally some good news. New York Magazine is launching a beauty newsletter. I’ll temper my hopes but this could save us from a beauty editorial drought. The Strategist Beauty Brief is place where “our beauty writers can share what they really think — their first impressions of buzzy launches, quick takes on what’s trending on TikTok and Instagram, and deep dives into the products they keep stocked in their own toiletry bags.” When beauty writing is at it’s best, it’s a word of mouth medium. I miss secret suggestions of spas and treatments around the city. Give me tricks, give me hacks, give me drugstore items that can save me from 1. blowing all my money at Sephora, and 2. looking like a freak at a wedding in the middle of nowhere.

  • Shopify invested in wholesale decacorn Faire. If you need a Faire refresher, go read my Shoppy Shop story for New York Magazine. Shopify will also make it easier for its sellers to order and manage inventory from Faire through a new app. Faire last raised a $416 million extension round in May 2022 which valued the company at $12.59 billion. Backers include Sequoia Capital and Dragoneer Investment Group. This is really exciting news for retailers who use both Faire and Shopify.

  • Elon could NEVER act in a commercial like Zuck. The new commercial for Meta features T-Pain, Kendall Jenner, and Tom Brady. Would love to see the budget for this masterpiece…..

  • Net sales of Estee Lauder’s perfume business (including Tom Ford, Le Labo, Clinique, Jo Malone London, etc.) have grown 40% since fiscal year 2019, pre-pandemic. To accelerate its burgeoning luxury and prestige perfume business, the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. plans to open a fragrance atelier in Paris next year. And I bet it’s going to be beauuuutiful.
