Tavi Gevinson published a Taylor Swift fanfic zine called Mirrorball. The original zine savant (Gevinson founded Rookie Magazine in 2011 at the age of 15 with the help of XO Jane’s Jane Pratt) is back to working in her best medium – the printable zine. I’m disgusted and obsessed with how closely I relate to her words. As a fellow insane romantic, I appreciate how succinctly she puts Taylor Swift’s skill into words. The zine takes a turn at the end, where she includes a Stan-like email conversation between herself and Swift. ”She throws rocks at boys’ windows and waits by their back doors. She is awakened by nightmares and possessed by daydreams. She refers to “forever” as a plausible duration of time. She collects souvenirs from relationships and immortalizes them in song, creating souvenirs of the souvenirs. She hoards them in a prepper basement strewn with conspiracy theories about emotional subtext.”
Dieline, my favorite website for the latest packaging news, is switching to a subscription model. A letter from their founder Andrew Gibbs (who started the site 17 years ago), reads, “Starting on April 17th, DIELINE will no longer be free for all. When you visit the site next week, a free account will come with five free articles every month. DIELINE Pro Subscribers can access everything for just $2.99 per month, or $29.99 for the year.”
