I would like to formally announce that I am taking on sponsors for my newsletter. It’s time to kick things into full gear over here at the Feed Me Headquarters.
Happy Friday, my precious readers.
You know what today’s first piece of news is? That New York Magazine launched a summer reading newsletter called “Beach Read Book Club.” This is news because :
New York Magazine is building a big newsletter strategy — they’ve got to be working well for them. They’re pretty segmented by interest and they have a clean steady cadence. So that’s nice….
BUT ALSO because their first one is about The Guest by Emma Cline. “Starting Wednesday, August 9, New York writers Brock Colyar, Allison P. Davis, Emily Gould, Matthew Schneier, and Alison Willmore will discuss the novel over the course of four weeks. We’ll also feature reader questions and comments in each edition.” SOUND FAMILIAR? Yeah that’s because I did the same thing 2 weeks ago. If it takes you 4 weeks to read that book, we have to talk. Could be wrong but it sounds like someone over there is reading Feed Me……………………
Puck’s Lauren Sherman is predicting that Goop is gearing up for a sale. Here are the most interesting points:
Goop has raised at least $75 million from the likes of Greycroft (who has also invested in Bumble, The Real Real, and Eden Health) and Lightspeed (who has invested in Faire, Zola, and Affirm)
Goop Skincare made of 64% of Goop’s sales last year
Sherman parallels potential outcomes to The Chernin Group’s investment in Dave Portnoy’s Barstool (both big controversial figures who built media companies in their founder’s image). Whether that’s true or not… it makes a good headline.
