I posted this on Instagram yesterday and a lot of people found it helpful so, I will now show you all what I look like when I cry:

Always grateful for my readers.

Do you guys want me to discuss the bows and girlhood thing, or are you done? Because you are aware that these are the headlines that we’re dealing with just this week, right?

  • Bow-nanza! How Bows Became This Year’s Biggest Holiday Decor Trend - Vogue

  • The Year of The Girl- New York Magazine

  • Elizabeth Goodspeed on coquettism and “girl design” - It’s Nice That

  • Girlhood is the biggest winner at the box office this year - Business Insider

  • How Celebrating Girlhood Quickly Became the Internet's Favorite Trend - Who What Wear

  • TikTok’s bow trend gets absurd - New York Times

  • Why was girlhood suddenly back in style? -HighSnobiety

  • Your Honor, I'm Literally Just A Girl <3- Byline

I was turmoiling over this whole trend the other night (sorry for anyone who got a text from me while I was in the middle of my spiral), so I don’t reaaalllly want to write about it, but I would for you guys.

News:

  • Speaking of the girls… they are obsessed with POUCHES. Last week I was listening to Fat Mascara, and they recapped Casey Lewis’s guide to what Gen-Z wants for Christmas this year. One of the items called our was the Dairy Boy makeup bag (if you aren’t familiar with Dairy Boy, you clearly aren’t keeping up with New York Magazine byline). Yesterday, I saw influencer Ella McFadin launch her own line of plush makeup pouches. On December 1, Glossier launched an in-store-only white makeup bag. And “Best Makeup Bag” has over 1.5B views on Tiktok. Why is this happening? I think there are a few reasons. People don’t just share their makeup look now — they share what they’re drinking, what products they’re debating, the sweatsuits or pajamas they’re wearing, and what they’re listening to while they’re doing their makeup. The *process* becomes a cinematic moment, not just a chore. And the makeup bag fits perfectly in there as a prop. Women are also spending more money on cosmetics every year, and they probably want to protect them and keep them in good condition in the safety of a cotton pouch.
