This is a list of my favorite love movies. None of them are romcoms, all of them are a little painful. You can watch them instead of the Superbowl, or if you have no Valentine’s Day plans.

Close, Lukas Dhont

I saw this movie with my best friend Gaby at Cobble Hill Cinemas on a very chilly day when we were probably in one of our synced depressions. It’s a coming-of-age drama (I’ve got you hooked now) about two 13-year-old boys named Léo and Rémi and their deeply intimate friendship. When they start a new school together, their classmates’ questions provoke very different responses in the boys. I think every man should watch this movie. The tenseness contrasted with the soaring wide shots created a really intense, heartbreaking movie. It has similar themes to Call Me By Your Name, but better.
