Thanks Emily! For those who don't know my work, I've been writing about the cultural convergences that lead to what we find in the grocery aisle. My work has allowed me to work with the biggest food and beverage companies in the world as well as being able to be a resource to emerging brands looking to break into CPG. I've seen it all from palo santo brewed waters being marketed to uplift your vibes to creatine croissants and protein hard seltzers. Looking forward to answering your questions!

pro beta blockers 🙌🏼 as someone who’s anxiety manifests physically first, and has for some reason begun to develop an irrational fear of flying as an adult after having already flown hundreds of times in my life on all kinds of lengths of trips, they have been v helpful for travel and lots of work related scenarios.

Living in Korea I use to take the bullet train every weekend. It’s my favorite way to travel. I wish we had the infrastructure to have them all throughout the states. & I’m so excited for the Feed Me Empire !!!

I prescribe beta blockers all the time. They are one of the best meds used in psychiatry because they (more than most meds) actually can help rewire the brain due to how they work on adrenaline. Have also prescribed plenty of times to brides AND grooms for their wedding. it's not that the wedding is so crazy as much as lots of people hate being the center of attention and it's not just unpleasant but torture for them. They have no typical relaxation effects therefore it's very different than taking a benzo on your wedding day (or having a few extra drinks)!

Ok I came on here to be skeptical but do I need them for my debilitating fear of flying due to traumatic flight incident last summer which now feels like something I can't think my way out of....

And are people drinking on them?

For most people it doesn't matter either way (drink or not). ofc lots of brides and grooms are going to drink after taking it

What do you mean by rewiring the brain? I’m so curious

Adrenaline is closely tied to memory. So when you can do the same activity that prompts high adrenaline levels (ex public speaking), but you do it with a lower adrenaline level due to beta blocker, it can help you brain start to "re-learn" the event. Basically teaches your brain to have a lower adrenaline level in the future with the same trigger. Sometimes happens quickly, other times takes a little bit longer. but with something like xanax it would not happen, that would just have a lower stress level in the moment but your brain does not learn from that.

Beta blockers ruined my pickle ball game so I stopped. I needed to be firing on all cylinders at the open play, pure focus on the dink and not step in the kitchen.

Welcome Anna & Cami!

Oh to experience the joy of train travel through Simons eyes :') For a little while I was taking the train down to Alexandria, VA for work and really made me wish more cities were accessible by train.

I understand the latest thing in protein is that there’s no limit, but the Starbucks ranges were giving me a headache. People wanna know what they’re getting! I can feel the tortured convos between marketing and legal that led to those sentences.

Surely the new Acela is a welcome upgrade, but it’s telling that it launches already outdated with USB instead of USB-C, something that airlines and Florida’s privately funded Brightline train added to their fleet years ago.
