Good morning from sunny California, where it’s going to be 61°F today. I spent the weekend exploring San Francisco and talking to strangers at bars about what it’s like to live here.

On Saturday, I jumped in the freezing San Francisco Bay and swam with a seal after sitting in a floating sauna at Fjord. That evening, I went to a party in Sea Cliff in a $24mm house overlooking the water. There was no alcohol, but they served Kirkland boxed coconut water and La Croix. It was mostly men, maybe eight women. You had to take your shoes off upon entering. There were two bouncers, and velvet ropes blocking off wings of the house (don’t know where one even buys those). I got udon and fried kabocha at Rintaro for dinner.
