Local news is fun again.

Good morning everyone.
Two people asked me if I was paid to write about the J.Crew brand trip in Puglia. Obviously, I was not paid to write about the J.Crew brand trip in Puglia.
But as one friend texted me this morning, a new J.Crew bombshell has entered the villa. So far, here’s who J.Crew has sent to Masseria San Domenico, a $1,000/night hotel in Italy: Chris Black,
, , , Pierce Abernathy, , Lucy Laucht (a photographer who has shot for J.Crew in the past — I’m assuming she’ll be shooting a campaign on this trip), Marie von Behrens-Felipe, and Lauren McCarthy. The Tarte trip is a thing of the past, and a new bar has been set for The Brand Trip, thanks to Sue Chan.Last night I went to a screening of Eva Victor’s Sorry, Baby at San Vicente Bungalows, hosted by Sara Moonves. There was a brief Q+A at the end between Victor and the audience, where Jack Antonoff asked Victor about what her next film would be, and the two of them went back and forth, making an extremely strong case for sophomore projects. The film was beautiful (looks like it’s showing at Angelika), I really like Victor’s sense of humor. She’s quite sparkling! I grabbed a copy of the most recent issue of W with Sydney Sweeney on the cover. Moonves is making one hell of a print product.
Today’s letter includes: a new independent journalism brand in San Francisco that I’m excited about, Huma Abedin’s wedding cake reveal, Cuomo needs to go to driving school, and Anna Wintour is helping Lauren Sanchez style her wedding gown.
Good news: the Feed Me job board is coming back later this month. If that’s something your brand would like to be the presenting sponsor of, shoot me an email. In the meantime, I’m sharing some interesting listings that I’ve seen or that friends have sent me.

Pay range: $95,0000 - $110,000
Influencer Marketing and Community Manager, Rhode: Rhode posted this job listing a few days ago and it stood out to me because they have such a strong marketing and community team, but it’s a good sign that it’s growing. I’ve been waiting to find out about Huma Abedin’s wedding cake. The three-tier cake was chocolate, London fog, and tiramisu.
The Louvre closed for the day because it's staff is exhausted and overwhelmed by huge crowds.
I have a new respect for The Athletic for owning the coverage of Joey Chestnut and his competitive eating. Chestnut was banned from the 2024 Coney Island hotdog eating contest due to a sponsorship conflict involving a plant-based meat brand. This year, he will be welcomed back.
We are days away from the Sanchez-Bezos wedding. God bless the UK papers who do the heavy-lifting on this stuff:
Anna Wintour is helping Sanchez style her gown
Sanchez allegedly bought 27 dresses for the weekend
Bezos and Sánchez will stay at the Aman Venice (in the same suite used by George and Amal Clooney)
The guest list includes Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Eva Longoria, Orlando Bloom, Oprah Winfrey, and Barry Diller
Vogue will publish exclusive wedding photos
Local activists in Venice are organizing disruptions under the slogan “No Space For Bezos” to protest commodification of the city and wealth inequality
The local luxury hotels are fully booked out, including the Gritti Palace, Cipriani, Danieli, and St. Regis. Renting them out costs an average $500k/night for each hotel.
I always thought it was cool that became a licensed esthetician. I think it makes her a better beauty writer, obviously she can get a job in the industry, but it also sets up great brand opportunities like co-developing skincare products — she just developed a cleanser with Face Haus. Similarly, I took a semester-long fragrance course at FIT a year and a half ago, and a few months later got to work with Merit on the launch of their first fragrance. I take notice when brands put in the work to hire people who know what the hell they’re talking about.
Cuomo can’t park – and has gotten 4 speeding tickets in the last few months.
Apparently Keith McNally is promoting his book on postcards that come with the checks at his restaurants. Smart.
Work meetings after 8pm have become 16% more frequent in the US. People are working later into the day according to data from Microsoft, and Glassdoor data shows burnouts are on the rise. I sort of just consider every hour that my eyes are open part of my workday because of the amount of work-related texts and DM’s.
The Ritz Paris has a new 390€ boxing and sports massage offering for guests. We’re probably overdue for a conversation on Feed Me about luxury hotels. I’ve been increasingly DISAPPOINTED by them.
Trump is creating a $500 phone. It will obviously be gold.
Soleil Ho, the former food-critic-turned-opinions-writer at the San Francisco chronicle is launching their own independent news outlet: Coyote. The team of 10 reporters (award-winning reporters and podcasters, filmmakers and photographers, writers and novelists, opinion and advice columnists) plans to launch by the end of the summer if they manage to hit their fundraising goal of $80k — they’re over halfway there. I’m super into this, and I’m curious if they’ll use Substack or a different platform.
I’m late to this essay by in Byline, but it’s beautiful. “I guess what I’m saying is, it’s much easier to run toward an object or person or byline or compliment or applause—one that might distract from what is actually a long-held and deeply-rooted pain—than it is to stop and realize that pain doesn’t need an external thing; it needs you.”
You say "27 dresses" in context of a wedding and expect me not to imagine the Katherine Heigl and James Marsden romcom?
of course cuomo drives a dodge charger smh!!
