LeBron asked a Hamptons teen to rebound for him.
I got in touch with the rising senior this morning.
Breaking news from the Hamptons: I learned this morning that LeBron James was in town last week and needed somewhere to practice. Instead of going to some weird rich guy’s gym in East Hampton (who would probably ask for photos and a long lunch afterwards), LeBron turned to the most obvious solution: a high school gym.
The last problem to solve was finding a decent workout partner and someone to rebound for him. In came rising Southampton High School senior Alex Franklin.
I got in touch with Alex this morning and asked him some questions about what life has been like since playing with LeBron, and how big his hoop dreams are.
What are your basketball dreams in general? Do you think this was your career peak?
My goals for basketball are to let the game take me as far as possible and just enjoy the experience and hopefully play in college and after that.
Is the GOAT LeBron or MJ?
I think LeBron is the GOAT mainly because I’ve actually seen him play.
Did your Fourth of July plans change after this news broke? I’m guessing people start to act differently.
My plans for the 4th are working out with my dad in the morning, enjoying the parade in Southampton and heading to work at Cooper’s Beach and relaxing with friends and family.
How do you think things are going to go with Mike Brown next season?
I think the Knicks and Mike Brown should have a nice chance to make another great run.
Anything else you want to say about the Hamptons basketball scene?
It’s me and my team's year to redeem ourselves , bring home a state championship and for me to prove why I’m the best on Long Island this year.
