Last night, I went to Laura Brown and Kristina O’Neill’s book party at the Tory Burch store on Melrose. I shared fries with Willa Bennett and saw my former New York Magazine colleague Rebecca Ramsey, and we all listened to Monica Lewinsky, Kiernan Shipka, and Uzo Aduba read passages from All the Cool Girls Get Fired.
Afterwards I went to the Staud Flagship opening party, where they were serving caviar alongside beaded caviar bags frozen in blocks of ice. They also had little trays of cigarettes everywhere that guests carried around the room unlit. I ate one of the burgers being passed around — which had a bun stamped with the Staud logo — and I don’t know if I was starving or if it was one of the best burgers I had in LA. This morning I texted Staud’s co-founder George Augusto to say thank you and ask about the burgers, and he told me that Jeremy Elkaim was the chef. After doing some research, I’ve come to the conclusion that Jeremy is an incredibly handsome man. He has also catered events for Ghia, L’Agence, and Cult Gaia.
I ended the night taking a melatonin and eating the oatmeal raisin cookie that the Sunset Tower staff put next to my bed during turndown service. I still don’t like Los Angeles, but I’m excited to celebrate one of my favorite couples getting married this weekend.
The Feed Me job board lives off Substack (and you can sponsor it). It’s better than LinkedIn because the jobs are submitted by Feed Me readers, the site will be updated daily, and I will have approval of what gets listed which means it’s designed for the ambitious.
Current listings include roles at Substack, Sotheby’s, Derris, and David Protein.
Breaker reported that Air Mail and Puck will have layoffs as a result of their merger. “A number of well-regarded Air Mail employees are already in active conversations with other outlets, including Conde Nast, for new jobs, we have also learned,” they wrote. May I also suggest having active conversations with Feed Me? We have free coffee in the office.
Another piece of news from Puck: Dylan Byers announced this morning that The Grill Room, the podcast he’s been hosting for a year, will now be co-hosted by Julia Alexander.
