Jeff Bezos spent Prime Day at a hot NYC restaurant 🍪
+ I will always miss The Standard WeHo, Francis Mallmann in The Hamptons.
I think the selfies are going away soon so enjoy ‘em while you can. Today’s news includes where Jeff Bezos and Jeff Koons ate dinner last night in New York, the changing of hands of Ace and Standard hotels, Cat Marnell’s guide to all the rehabs she’s stayed in in the tri-state area.
Over the weekend I was at a friend’s beach house on Long Island. We were sitting at the kitchen table one afternoon, pouring wine into glasses and looking outside at the bright just-rained-upon green lawn when our friend noticed someone approaching the front door. “This is how the movie begins,” I told them as the stranger walked up to the house. Of course, it wasn’t a stranger, it was a neighbor and they were just saying hi. But on vacations it’s easy for me to imagine things to go terribly wrong and twist into a sinister plot.
It’s a thought pathway that’s very comfortable to me now.
Later in the night, we went to a party at the small beach community’s clubhouse. There were no street lights so the five of us navigated in the dark, with some help from stars and window light from houses. The clubhouse had the sonic glow of a rave in the distance, but after walking the length of a narrow dock, what we discovered inside was a party of 25-year-olds dressed in white, playing beer pong in front of a strobe -lit American flag. Two young Feed Me readers approached me.
