I don’t know why but I find it so endearing that ads work on boys 😭

Derek Guy absolutely destroyed a bunch of my brother’s teammates on twitter for their pregame suits and apparently the whole locker room went to a tailor afterwards. Hilarious.

As someone who represents the median from a men's fashion perspective, a few thoughts:

The best thing a guy can do is understand color combinations. Italian men have a simple style - dark shirts, light pants, dark shoes. It works. (Fwiw, most color guides suck and there is an opportunity for someone to do a better version).

Don't be too rigid. I grew up mixing surfer and preppy - and then felt weird with the workwear trend. You can mix and match however day-to-day as long as you're not going full lumberjack to sweater shoulder draping the next day.

Don't get too caught up with timeless. Everyone drools over Bill Cunningham's chore coat - but 15 years ago, 98% of guys would have found it atrocious and oversized. Now everyone thinks it's cool. If you like it, stick with it.

Find people wearing outfits that you think look good and work backwards. You probably have something that looks similar. Todd Snyder is always a GOAT for opening up men's wardrobes back in his J Crew days.

Your staples can be different than your "first impression" clothes.

Don't overlook skin tone. I get pale in the winter and was gently told by a lady friend "you should really just retire the pale yellow".

Studies show* smiling adds 1 points to any outfit on the 10 scale. You wear the clothes, don't let the clothes wear you. (*not really, but who cares about studies)

i’ve been thinking sooooooooooo much about this lately- men also get so weird when you ask them where, why and how they buy something like they’re embarrassed it’s so strange… i have to practically beg my friends to tell me where they’re buying their backpacks

Because they find the whole thing frivolous…something about it subconsciously being a women’s hobby/passion… like they don’t want to be seen as caring about such things when lord knows I know many men who can talk hours about the specificities of their mechanical keyboard set up

Ha, at some point in life, males are heckled into thinking "to care is to be exposed". That's why there is no higher compliment than "effortless style". I'm sure plenty of therapists buy their beach houses on this phenomenon alone.

Deeply feel the tension out here in seattle between Brendon Holder’s “go get inspired in the streets” wisdom with the young king from Boston’s take that most ppl in his city dresses like shit. +1 to BBSP as inspiration savior

The Met Gala is absolutely good for NYC.

My wife dresses me, obviously,

She and therefore I favor Todd Snyder Jeans and shirts and James Perse. polos. Some blazers and I'm set.

The rain seems to be keeping away the crowds. Our street is closed off so I have to go to Madison to get transportation to another annual benefit. Much more low key. And Todd Snyder is NOT sponsoring me.

1. I'm surprised Sprezza and Clayton Chambers isn't mentioned here!! Really good mix of content on the Substack and his Discord (the Sprezza Leisure Club) is really, really good.

2. GQ's Discord is actually quite fun as well.
