How much pain are you willing to go through to look good?
A survey about beauty and treatments.
Good morning and happy Halloween everyone. Some of you might know this, but before Feed Me was Feed Me, I used Substack in 2020 to publish short horror fiction. Once, Bloomberg’s Matt Levine included one in his newsletter and I think that was the first time I realized the traffic potential of newsletters. If you want to read some creepy short stories, here you go:
Plus One is about a dinner party where one uninvited guest never leaves.
Maybe Unfollow is about an influencer that we all follow who is stuck in her own life.
A deeper stretch is about a cult workout class that ruins people’s lives.
The Secret Ingredient is about our blind gluttony.
The Mailroom is about a summer camp employee with a heavy appetite for chaos. (It was originally published in The Drunken Canal).
The Female Founder was the most popular newsletter of mine for a while.
To get into the Halloween spirit, I have decided to run a survey about the how Feed Me readers are thinking about beauty and wellness treatments.
If we had a water cooler, I’d talk to you about:
Zara Hair launched new products. I neeeed to see the numbers on how this category is doing at Zara, because they really put an impressive amount of work into promoting the products.
Dimes Square’s newest bakery is finally open! I can’t wait to eat all of the pastries from Elbow Bread.
Forget celebrity tequila brands, stars are now getting into the beer business. “Four years after buying Wrexham AFC, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are doubling down on the Welsh town by purchasing Wrexham Lager, one of the oldest lager breweries in Great Britain.”
Tyler, The Creator is dominating Spotify’s top-charts this week.
New York’s newest members’ club, Chez Margaux, is open. The club is in the old Spice Market space in Meatpacking (RIP), and a friend who went recently told me, “I know New York is overrun with clubs, but it feels like this one might actually be good.” Michael Cayre, the landlord of the building, is the landlord of Soho House and Casa Cipriani. Chez Margaux is $1,800 a year if you’re 31 or under, $2,600 if you’re over. Meanwhile on the west coast, Beverly Hills got a new club called Gravitas. Chef Preston Madson (formerly Freeman’s and Il Buco) is running food and beverage there, which is hopeful. Memberships at Gravitas start at $4,000 per year for those under 30.
’s Katie Stone did the lord’s work with this one:
Starbucks is bringing back their little wooden sticks. And the bar of milk options, and maybe that weird vanilla powder that I was always confused about.
Looooved the survey. Could talk about this stuff for hours
Elbow doing good things. “To be named” and the honey challah bun thingy were terrific. Also like that they’re expanding what you’d typically find at Michaeli’s around the corner. Challah v Challah come Friday.
