I received one of the pied a terre letters. It was easy enough to send documentation to prove that NYC is our primary residence.
This will be a very hard tax to avoid because if you try to prove NYC is your primary residence for purposes of this tax, but you do not file taxes as a NYC resident, well, welcome to our tax system and glad to have you with us!
Best turkey burger in recent memory is 5 Napkin Burger (especially since Bareburger no longer makes one). I'd love to see where else people recommend! (I'm asking because my wife doesn't eat beef.)
(Also the parent company of 5 Napkin is lowkey a strong collection of restaurants)
There's one across the street from the 85th St AMC Theater so we usually will do dinner there beforehand when (now if we're lucky thanks to new kid) we're seeing a movie. But yeah, Chef Driven Hospitality is solid (https://www.chefdriven.com/restaurants/).
my hometown paper has a circulation of 3,000 and working there in high school was formative!! these papers do incredible work but are often struggling from lack of staff, funding, and print readers so this support is so so necessary
Also re: EDL using the Kylie Meta Glasses for content - I'm really, really excited to watch the upcoming war between Meta x Ray Ban (Meta Glasses) VS. Google x Samsung x Warby Parker (Google Glass 2.0).
omfg I’m so British that I was SCOURING the newsletter for a mention of the (far-right, anti-Islam street protest movement) English Defence League — like, “Tommy Robinson wears the Kylie Jenner Meta glasses?!”
Why do I feel so queasy when I read the 'head of ethics' is leaving a place like Open AI. Are there humans there that are keeping us from the brink? Or, am I naive and we've breached that already ?
doesn’t help when their comms is putting out a defensive response to the departure of such an employee: “AI ethics doesn’t live with one owner or team at OpenAI” I mean, eww.
The OG Westville was my Marc Jacobs
store lunch break location of choice from 2009 - 2012. Rare cheeseburger with goat cheese and sweet potato fries forever.
their sweet potato fries go harddddddd
Maybe the best in the city?

whoa didn’t realize all those hell’s kitchen restaurants are related
There's a lot of great mini restaurant groups around the city, and they partly help each other out!

Snap sadly disqualified themselves at this point.

(I worked out you meant Emily Dawn Long after a while lol)
That was quite the journey! 🫠
The retreat sounds amazing... except for the guitar and bass part.
Ironic that Cornell’s mascot is a bear 🐻
Long ago, I had a Cornell alum roommate that would have pulled a stunt like ‘just making some black bear pastrami’. I wonder if they’re related.
Love the FM invite! Well done.
