GOOD MORNING. I spent all weekend at the beach. This beautiful dress that made me feel like Liesl von Trapp is from Doen. My new addiction is powdered blue gatorade. Another amazing new hobby is watching Housewives (all cities) from season 1. I don’t get paid for any of these links because I don’t know how, I’m just trying to let you guys learn a little more about me.

NEWS:

  • “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but when it’s a multibillion dollar brand copying the young independent female minority owned brand it feels gross and tone deaf.” Comme Si is a luxury sock brand founded by Jenni Lee, who started her career running brand at Harry’s for 5 years, and launching Tata Harper and Dr. Jart+ (stacked resume). This weekend, I saw that creative director and stylist Juliana Salazar was posting about a J. Crew shoot that not only uses the same model as a recent Comme Si shoot that she worked on, but also the same poses and styling. New Balance did the same thing. It goes without saying that New Balance and J. Crew are eons larger than Comme Si. The lesson here is to hire people who you think are impressive, and don’t assume you’ll get away with shortcuts when… your audience will probably recognize it pretty immediately.

  • High follower count is the new high body count. This story says some men think it’s a turnoff when women have too many followers, and will even specify the maximum follower count they’ll date, or tell women that a public Instagram profile is a red flag. THIS, is Jonah Hill’s America. The men in the story claim that a high follower count probably leads to dozens of thirsty DMs a day. And they are probably right. The boys need to grow up. To quote Rayne Fisher-Quann, “It’s easy to find flaws with something you already feel disdain towards, and so much writing about girls on the internet is cruel and misogynistic, and comes from people who don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.”
