Hi.
This morning WWD published a piece that said the homeware sector is expected to reach a market value of more than $200 billion by the end of 2031, with an annual growth rate of 5 percent from 2021 to 2031. I have many thoughts on this category and the acceleration of it, and I’ve been wanting to discuss it for a while via a few different avenues. Many stories about the homeware — I call it nesting — boom anchor it at the point we were all at home during the lockdown. But I’d argue to pull that anchor slightly back a few years (Dusen Dusen, launch of Great Jones and Our Place cookware, vases of flowers and bookshelves being Instagrammed, the rise of the celebrity home chef via Bon Appetit, every media site indulging readers in home tours).
