Who was going to tell me about Mason Pearson brushes? I look like a gorgeous poodle.

I don’t think I’m going to write about Pinault’s CAA deal or fashion week stuff (like this protestor at Coach) today because I’m sure you’ve read that all elsewhere, and it’s Friday so we should get cocktail party conversation going.

  • Emily corner 💅 💋 😏 :

    • I spoke to The Washington Post about J. Crew. Longtime readers know I’ve covered the brand since the beginning and find it fun to analyze. The story is about mall brands making a comeback.

    • For Highsnobiety’s fall issue, I interviewed TikTok’s hottest chef, Mr. Pierce Abernathy. On stands now 🤠

  • Did we know Walmart was in the watch game? They’re selling Rolex’s on their site and promoting them via Instagram ads. One Twitter user said “Looks like Walmart is promoting something a third party seller is selling through them (it’s a watch store in nyc)…still wild imo” Still wild in MY opinion as well. Meanwhile, the retail giant is cutting pay for new workers. It’s another sign of companies feeling less pressure to offer higher pay to attract workers as labor markets cool.

  • Goldman is having more layoffs of bankers “deemed underperformers”. The move is part of an annual exercise that typically results in between 1-5% of company-wide employees losing their jobs. Headlines like this always make me sad because I just imagine a bunch of beautiful young boys in suits sadly walking around downtown with their little briefcases.
