Are you ready for the beauty newsletter boom?
Puck, BoF, and New York Magazine are all doubling down
Snow day, what’s good.
Yesterday was really fun. You guys had the best responses to the absurd Kiki story. Here are some of the comments I got:
NEWS:
There’s about to be a beauty newsletter boom:
Rachel Strugatz, Beauty Editor-at-Large at The Business of Fashion, is joining Puck as their contributing beauty correspondent. Every Wednesday, Puck will be sending a beauty-themed edition of Line Sheet (Lauren Sherman’s existing fashion newsletter at Puck) featuring a dispatch from Rachel on what’s happening in her world. She’ll also be contributing reporting and insights on a rolling basis throughout the week. Strugatz and Lauren Sherman worked for years together at BoF and it will be fun to see the synergy between the two.
The Business of Fashion is doubling down on rigorous coverage of the global beauty and wellness space, with a DAILY beauty newsletter. “Beginning today, subscribers to the weekly Beauty briefings will receive a new edition in their inbox every weekday, packed with our must-read news and analytical features.”
I’ve signed up for The Strategist Beauty Brief, and I’ve heard rumors that The Cut will also be starting a newsletter and ramping up beauty coverage.
Allie’s Beauty Mark column at Byline is still one of my favorites.
What other beauty newsletters should I be reading?
New York Magazine saw Coperni’s cats and said, “We want to play.” Meow. This week’s cover stor is about polyamory, and features a group of adorable kittens. Whether they saw Coperni’s holiday kitten campaign or not is unclear, but I did previously cover that Coperni’s posts performed roughly 650% better than their average. I hope we see some videos from this photoshoot. ANYWAY, I’ll be spending my morning studying this polyamory story and then spending my evening texting all of my friends about it. I love when New York Magazine writes about sex.
This New York Magazine issue also had an entire LOEWE zine inside of it (thanks Sumeet for the photo assist). Sumeet, who sent me the photos from his copy, said “Jonathan Anderson basically built an Avengers type list of collaborators, interviews, photos, stories, and...stickers!” I want to see the stickers and the cost of this project.
