Anna Weyant, Sara Moonves and more on their 2025 fashion highlights.
"I felt like Cinderella—especially when I had to give it back the next day."
Good morning everyone. I spent this morning in the piano room at The Chelsea Hotel (one of my favorites spaces in the city) with a gaggle of media people for a small event hosted by Puck’s Dylan Byers and Jon Kelly, and Orchestra’s Jonathan Rosen. Someone’s blueprint for a media Mount Rushmore.
Today’s newsletter includes: Derek C. Blasberg’s most stylish friends on their top sartorial moments of the year, partnership teams should be taking notes on Hunter Harris’s recent HBO Max deal, Casey Lewis and Clare de Boer join CBS, and Adam Friedland called President Trump.
If you have ever had the pleasure of being in Derek C. Blasberg’s orbit, you know how glamorous, opinionated, and FUNNY his coalition of friends is. Earlier this month, I asked him to text the most fashion-forward people in his rolodex to share their standout moments of the year. Below, responses from Will Welch, Anna Weyant, Ethan James Green, and more.
Happy holidays, fashion fans!
Emily asked me to do a year-end best-dressed list for Feed Me, and since I do everything Emily tells me—including launching my own Substack—here we are. The brief was: identify some of the most stylish New Yorkers, and then ask them what their sartorial highlights of 2025 were.
Behold, that list:
Lauren Santo Domingo, founder of Moda Operandi: “My favorite fashion moment was at the Bal d’Été this summer in Paris, which was an aesthetic feat of organization by Sofia Coppola. I wore a dress from Olivier Theyskens’s debut collection for Rochas in 2003. I remember the moment the look came out on the runway in Paris, worn by Stella Tennant. I was shook! And so was everyone else in the industry. I have thought about that dress for the last two decades, and I was over the moon when the label loaned it to me from its archives. I felt like Cinderella—especially when I had to give it back the next day. Fortunately, it didn’t disappear at midnight. And I didn’t lose a shoe either.”
Hari Nef, actress: “While unpacking in the guest room of my friend’s house in the Fire Island Pines, I found a small leather strap behind a bedside table. It was about 5 inches long and 1/3 inch wide, with silver studs and a snap enclosure. It was too short to be a choker or a man’s bracelet, though it fit my woman’s wrist. I kept the trinket, wondering what it was. Later, I found out it was a cock ring, thanks to Dario Vitale’s debut collection for Versace, which was styled by Spencer Singer. They sent out slacks unbuttoned to the crotch, fastened at the waist by studded straps identical to the one I found on the floor. It’s a fun and slutty alternative to wearing a belt. And I wouldn’t want to damage the leather by washing it.”
Joe Holder, fitness entrepreneur: “I loved seeing the quarter zip trend show up with young kids. More athleisure! It’s nice to see people growing up. I loved the relaxed, bigger fits that are still stylish, like Todd Snyder’s more expansive and airy silhouettes. And I love seeing 90s energy again! I’m a huge fan of that, especially with my body type. GQ’s Men of the Year party showed off a lot of 90s-inspired fits, which were some of my personal favorites. I also want to shout out Alex Mill—I love their denim, especially the wider pant legs, which are super chic. And bring back the loafers! I see you, Clarks. The Portsmouth Silhouette is definitely my favorite pair of non-athletic shoes. I appreciate a trend in menswear that’s more relaxed, but still stylish.”
Tyler Mitchell, photographer: “My own favorite fashion moment was wearing a white custom Grace Wales Bonner tuxedo with a royal blue collar, beautiful custom brooch, and a boa to this year’s Met Gala. My favorite moment on someone else? Everything Colman Domingo has been wearing, all year. And! An old 2000s Prada hat that Rachel Tashjian wore the night I was honored at the Aperture Gala. Favorite shows included Jonathan Anderson’s Dior men’s show and Matthieu’s Chanel women’s show. I also got to see the new Comme show by Rei Kawakubo in October, and any chance to witness those clothes in person makes it memorable and a favorite. I enjoyed discovering Mameg in Los Angeles—the taste level is right. And my favorite pair of new shoes is a pair of eel loafers from The Row. They’ve had me in a chokehold, and my body seems unable to wear anything else at the moment.”
