Good afternoon, everyone.

I had a lunch meeting at Sant Ambroeus (Brookfield) today, and I think it was the first time I’d ever had their fries. Very hot and crunchy (vs. crispy), which makes me think they batter them. Which you can’t say for many lunchtime fries. As I was walking out of the restaurant, I noticed many tables of suits also had bowls of the fries. Maybe I’m late to the game.

Today’s newsletter includes: Alison Roman is opening a store in New York (and hiring a baker), a former Eric Adams staffer donated to Spencer Pratt’s mayoral campaign, and 831 Books is getting into the movie business.

  • From the Feed Me Tip Line: “Dockers, beloved seaside restaurant in Quogue, had a really serious fire yesterday. Inside totally wrecked. Tough timing right before MDW.” They’ll be closed this weekend.
