A new play about the death of Dimes Square. 🎭

Good afternoon, everyone.
Every day, I am getting closer to understanding what Air is, but I’m still not there. Last night, I was in Air’s Howard Street office to celebrate the phenomenal Macy Gilliam. It was the one-year anniversary of her show with Morning Brew, Out There.
Today’s letter includes: A play about the death of downtown New York, lip filler is giving you an accent, a new menswear newsletter by Magasin alum Louis Cheslaw, and Vice is attempting to rebuild their empire.
Louis Cheslaw, a London-based GQ editor and the founding menswear columnist for Magasin, is leaving to start his own newsletter called Wardrobe. I met Louis Cheslaw in 2020, he moved to the apartment below mine and we ended up spending many nights together on his floor or mine, drinking tea and talking about work and life. I adore his writing, and I’m so happy for him to launch this project. His first newsletter spells out plainly what Wardrobe’s goal is: “I want us to all build wardrobes that make us happy, last a long time, and help us feel more like ourselves.”
Why do influencers talk like that? Lip filler. Alex Sujong Laughlin wrote about a phenomenon she’s calling “Lip Filler Accent” – a specific way of speaking that comes from having had lip filler – for The Defector. The story started with a familiar situation: sitting on the train and observing New York City teenagers. The catch about LFA is that people who haven’t even touched their lips with injections are adopting the speech style.
The Face magazine is shuttering. Sad news. I really fell in love with their work, especially the investment in young photographers. Shaad wrote a great post about why The Face was the coolest magazine in the world.
