Good morning everyone.

Today’s letter includes: Anthropic’s published a study on how its own employees are using AI, The Cut is hiring a video host, and more New York City diners are closing.

If you turned the lights off in the DealBook conference yesterday, there still would’ve been a soft glow from the Oura Rings on the fingers of almost every attendee, hovering in the air like lighters at the world’s richest rock concert. I’d never seen so many in one place. I’m so impressed by Andrew Ross Sorkin and his ability to navigate back to back conversations with Alex Karp (Karp’s body language during this conversation was wild), Jimmy Donaldson (Mr.Beast), and Erika Kirk.

When Sorkin played a recent video of Jimmy’s called Hi Me In 10 Years, I was flooded with this familiar itching feeling of regret. Sure, this letter is an incredibly granular documentation of the last five years of my life. But I really wish I was someone who turned on my camcorder more and captured the mundane moments of the last few years. I don’t know if you guys ever watch a documentary, or How I Built This-type video and wonder, Who was filming all of that?

Today, Jimmy’s company, Beast Industries, is valued above $5 billion.

  • Anthropic published a study on how its own employees are using AI.

    • Productivity is up. Engineers say Claude is now involved in 60% of their work and gives them 50% productivity gains. Many said they view Claude as a “constant collaborator.”

    • Workplace social dynamics are changing. The report says, “Claude is now the first stop for questions that used to go to colleagues—some report fewer mentorship and collaboration opportunities as a result.” One person said, “I like working with people and it’s sad that I ‘need’ them less now… More junior people don’t come to me with questions as often.”

    • I think entry-level engineer jobs are cooked. One person said, “I feel optimistic in the short term but in the long term I think AI will end up doing everything and make me and many others irrelevant.”

  • Meta poached Apple’s Head of User Interface Design, Alan Dye. My first reaction was surprise; I didn’t know Meta even cared this much about interface design.

  • Vogue is hiring a Fashion News editor.
